Only One

I know you've seen this before. I have seen it several times and saved it, but after my last computer crash, I lost it and thought it gone forever. Then I was at BJ Hoff's Grace Notes today and not only did I find it again, but now I know who wrote it! BJ Hoff wrote it during a time of great trial. Thank you, BJ, for bringing back a friend I thought I'd lost.
Only One
I've often heard your question. This message is My answer. You're concerned about the hungry in the world, the millions who are starving and in need ...
and you ask Me, 'What can I do?' Feed One.
You grieve for all the unborn children murdered every day ...
and you ask Me, 'What can I do?' Save one.
You're haunted by the homeless poor who wander city streets ...
and you ask Me, 'What can I do?' Shelter one.
You feel compassion for those who suffer pain and sorrow and despair ...
and you ask Me, 'What can I do?' Comfort one.
Your heart goes out to the lonely, the abused, and the enslaved ...
and you ask Me, 'What can I do?' Love one.
Remember this: Two thousand years ago the world was filled with those in need, just as it is today, and when the helpless and the hopeless called out to Me for mercy, I sent a Savior ...
Hope began with only One.

Yes, very powerful. I can only imagine the tragedy that made this particular rose blossom from BJ's pen.

Very powerful Gina! And I want to apologize...I never realized until now that you are from Louisiana! I'm so sorry to hear that your daugher lost everything! And I'm so happy that no one in your family is hurt. Praise God! I will certainly keep you in my prayers as you and your family deal with the aftermath of these dark days. I understand being glued to the T.V. as you said in an earlier post. I think it's a natural way to deal with something so unbelievable. It was exactly the same for me during 9/11. And during this time too, even way up here in Canada, my heart breaks for those lost and those who have lost everything. During these times you realize that there really are no borders, we're all part of the family of 'mankind' and your suffering is ours! Blessings on you and your family Gina! Thank you for the encouragement you have shown me! Becky

Gina,

This is very cool, I have never seen this before.
God bless, Joe

Oh yeah I forgot I was going to ask you a question. Dial up, what is that? hehe Just kidding. You need to watch the rest of the video, the end is the best.

I am also glad to hear you family is safe. My brother left today with a group of firemen from middle Georgia to volunteer for the next ten days on search and rescue mission. I fear it will be a little more than that.

Oh, Joe! That is such a wonderful thing for him to do. Pray for him like never before, though. My brother-in-law said that our prayers was the only thing that kept him going. He also said it is much, much worse than what we see on TV.

Dial up is to DSL like snail mail is to email.

Gina, I too, am thankful that your family is safe. I'm so sadden by the loss experienced by your daughter but I do know that He is far greater and will supply her needs and lift her up to higher ground! We continue to pray....

Gina - Poignant and touching. I remind my girls everyday that even if they can't change the world, they CAN change just one other person's life by a smile or some small kindness.

If you get the opportunity, take a minute and go to BJ's blog and tell her how much it means to you. She wrote this years ago and I know it would mean a great deal to her to know how it has touched all y'all, just like it touched me.

Gina,

I enjoy your blog very much--you do such a nice job with it. I also want to thank you for your kind words about "Only One."

I'm so sorry about your daughter's loss, but glad to hear your family is safe. I have two daughters, and I can only imagine what it would be like to finally learn that they were both safe had they been caught up in a disaster such as this.

God's best to you and yours--

BJ Hoff

What this means in my worldview as a Christian is it is not about taking care of number one....but of one taking care of many. It all starts with one helping, caring, loving, sacrificing, ect. one by one out of the mass diversity of humanity.

Pastor Dean said we love those who are lovable and whom we get along with...but is tough to love the unlovable and those who anoy us. Let us love the poor, the sick and the elderly who are suffering the greatest from this disaster. Give generiously to your local charity or Church. If you cannot give $10 or $5....then give $1 a week...or every two weeks...this will be $4 or $2 a month...and in one year $48 to $24.
