1 John 2:15 Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world.
The human heart is too small to hold both the love of the world and love for God Almighty. God fills the heart to overflowing, there for there is no room for worldly things. When we close off part of our heart to God, then sin creeps into our life making us numb to the voice of God. Therefore, we can’t hear that still small voice that tells us to “go this way, the path is clear without pitfalls”. God guides our steps and He alone knows the future. I would rather be guided by a flood light than a single candle in this dark world.
