Turtle on a post...

Isaiah 58:11 And Jehovah shall always guide you, and satisfy your soul in dry places, and make strong your bones. And you shall be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water whose waters do not fail.

The point was made recently that a turtle on a post could not possibly get there by himself. In a picture, probably similar to this one, was the reason a manager in a Fortune 500 company kept a personal relationship with all folks under him. He didn't get there by himself.

Oh, I got the point. I thought it an extremely good point and I've carried that thought around with me for two weeks now. But, as I look at this picture, I can't help but think about that poor turtle, stuck up there all by himself with no companionship and nothing to eat, no where to go... not even a cup of coffee to keep him warm.

I was also struck by the sheer responsibility we have to the Turtle on the Post (our pastors, our legislators, our bosses, our teachers, our law enforcement, our military etc.) They did not get on the post by themselves, but it is crucial they do get nourishment and exercise and water if they are to stay any length of time on that post.

God understands this. He puts us on posts all the time in His work. He never leaves us there. He is always conscious of us, feeding us, giving us exercise and plenty to drink if we only lift our mouths to him. Trust Me, Try Me, Prove Me sayeth the Lord of Hosts and the blessings will pour out on you.
